2011 Quit Forest Rally
Last year all bikes made it home and my main rival was Heath Young with all the mumbo of his KTM which hammered, and looked forward to racing once more but he fell to a mechanical problem on the liaison to the first special stage. This type of racing is all out with mistakes and unreliable gear costs you a heap of time.
This was the 1st year for qualifying and it was a 4 k lap of pee gravel and 1 stall or back off in the wrong spot cost you 2 or 3 spots.
I qualified 6th fastest and Graham Mikinley 5th on his 505 ktm, with Heath Young 7th and Brett Tribbick 8th all on quads
Time management is everything in a event like this and penilties hurt after day 1 somehow with my stock engine trx 450r took 3rd outright in heat or day 1 with fastest on ss10 nanup oval
Day 2nd arrived and I was placed 4th on the road with graham on my hammer. After 2 stages last years outright winner sean Williamson was out with no 5th gear and placed myself behind the 2 husaberg boys. This played out sweet as no dust these boys can ride. Im not a fan of times as that puts the pressure on and didn't know what the results were until the end.
Rallying is fast and something I would love to see as a state round. To start with then ARC, but each state needs to work out their rally with the nav gear.
