"Pro Rida" with Chelsea

BEING PART OF A SPONSORED TEAM

Last year (mid season) I spent a good couple of months getting a proposal together to hand into BRP - Can Am for major sponsorship, and after a couple of intense months was accepted (to my delight) onto the Can Am X-Team.

With this great responsibility comes huge expectations from not only my manager and team mates, but mostly from myself. As a self-obsessed perfectionist, this will be a hard year for me where I will be pushing myself to the limits both on and off the track and I hope to keep you all updated on my progress through these posts through the year.

MY LIMITS, MY SEASON GOALS AND MY TRAINING OBJECTIVES...these are all questions that I have been asking myself over the last couple of months, in the lead up to the season .

With my first event the "Thumb Pump 300" looming on the Easter long weekend, I have been heavily into my fitness overhaul. I train (on a good week) 5 days out of 7 doing interval training where I concentrate on cardiovascular fitness as well as strength training (mainly upper body) my sessions lasting between 25 and 40 minutes.

I would love to get as much time on the bike as possible but circumstances have prevented that, with me only being able to train a couple of times on the bike. I am apprehensive about what the first event will hold for me. With my greatest support and training partner (my husband Trent) away a lot of time for work, I struggle to keep a good frame of mind and myself motivated for my progress.

I find watching a couple of ATV DVD's a great source of motivation and it helps me get my perspective back on why I am training myself so hard... my aim while on the X-Team is to help advance the participation of women in motor sport to ensure as many opportunities as possible at all levels.
